Meitei Alliance condemns Tronglaobi terror attack, seeks firm state action

The Meitei Alliance has strongly condemned the deadly attack at Tronglaobi, where two minor children were killed after suspected militants allegedly launched an explosive assault on residential houses in the early hours.
In a statement, the organisation described the incident as “barbaric” and “heinous,” stating that the targeting of civilians, particularly those asleep in their homes, constitutes a grave crime. It noted that the victims, both minors, were killed in an indiscriminate attack that has caused widespread shock and outrage.
The Alliance maintained that the incident should not be viewed merely as a law and order issue, but as an act of terror. It stated that the use of explosive weapons in civilian areas indicates a deliberate attempt to inflict maximum harm, especially on vulnerable sections including women and children.
Calling for immediate action, the organisation urged the Manipur Government to take decisive steps to curb militant activities and restore normalcy. It stated that ensuring the safety of lives and property remains a fundamental responsibility of the state.
The statement also demanded the prompt identification, arrest, and prosecution of those involved in the attack, along with measures to dismantle militant networks operating in the region. It further called on the Government of India to extend necessary support to effectively address the situation.
Expressing concern over what it termed as inadequate response, the Alliance cautioned that failure to act firmly could further endanger civilian lives. It stated that people should not be made to live under constant fear and uncertainty.
The Meitei Alliance conveyed its condolences to the bereaved families and reiterated its call for swift justice, stating that any delay in action could aggravate the situation further.
