A sit-in protest was held today at Keirak Keithel Lampak Community Hall, organised by Keirak Apunba Meira Paibi, condemning the recent attack at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district in which two children lost their lives. The protestors also raised strong objections to the alleged action of CRPF personnel, who reportedly fired upon civilians gathered to protest the incident.
Speaking to media persons, Khaidem Ongbi Lembi Leima expressed deep concern over the prevailing situation in Manipur. She stated that the killing of children while they were asleep in their mother’s arms is an act no mother can endure.
Appealing for peace, she urged the Manipur Government as well as indigenous communities from both the hills and the valleys to work collectively towards restoring normalcy in the state.
She further stated that the Manipur Government would have to bear responsibility if any census exercise is conducted by force against the will of the people.
