The Union Government has released additional installment of tax devolution to State Governments amounting to Rs. 1,09,019 crore on 1st August, which is in addition to the normal monthly devolution to be released on 10th August 2026.
This release is in line with the commitment of Government of India to strengthen the finances of States to accelerate their capital and developmental expenditure.
Manipur received Rs. 682 crore as its share of the Centre’s tax devolution. Among the northeastern states, Assam received the highest allocation at Rs. 3,552 crore, followed by Arunachal Pradesh (Rs. 1,476 crore), Tripura (Rs. 699 crore), Meghalaya (Rs. 688 crore), Manipur (Rs. 682 crore), Mizoram (Rs. 615 crore), Nagaland (Rs. 524 crore) and Sikkim (Rs. 365 crore).
Nationally, Uttar Pradesh received the highest allocation at Rs. 19,208 crore, followed by Bihar (Rs. 10,845 crore), Madhya Pradesh (Rs. 8,010 crore), West Bengal (Rs. 7,866 crore), Maharashtra (Rs. 7,022 crore) and Rajasthan (Rs. 6,460 crore).
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh welcomed the Centre’s release of Rs. 682 crore as advance tax devolution to the state. In a post on his social media handle, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the allocation, stating that the timely support would significantly strengthen development initiatives and accelerate Manipur’s progress. He also expressed gratitude to the Government of India on behalf of the people of the state for its continued support.
This is the second advance instalment of tax devolution released by the Centre in less than a year. On October 1, 2025, the Union Government released an advance tax devolution of Rs. 1,01,603 crore to enable states to accelerate capital spending and finance development and welfare-related expenditure. On that occasion, Manipur received Rs. 727 crore. In the latest release of Rs. 1,09,019 crore, the state’s allocation stands at Rs. 682 crore, which is Rs. 45 crore lower than the October 2025 advance installment.
