Assam Rifles executed a series of comprehensive civil-military interaction, youth empowerment and humanitarian assistance initiatives across Manipur on July 31 and August 1, 2026. The multi-faceted outreach covered Kamjong, Bishnupur, Imphal West and Tengnoupal districts, reinforcing security cooperation, fostering youth guidance and supporting vulnerable sections of society.
The series of initiatives commenced on July 31 at K. Ashang Khullen Village, situated near the Wanglee Company Operating Base (COB) in Kamjong District, where Assam Rifles convened a Security Interaction Meeting. Chaired by a senior official of Assam Rifles, the meeting brought together 11 prominent civilian representatives, including the Village Headman, Village Secretary and members of various Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). Discussions centered on the prevailing security scenario, the imperative of close coordination between security forces and local communities, law and order maintenance, prevention of anti-national activities and preservation of communal harmony. The senior official clarified the legal scope and purpose of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) as a provision facilitating security operations in disturbed areas, highlighting that all operations are conducted with professionalism, restraint and respect for public dignity. The civilian representatives commended the security efforts and reaffirmed their full support toward regional peace and inclusive development.
Expanding this outreach on August 1, Assam Rifles organised a youth-centric community interaction programme at Company Operating Base (COB) Nambol in Bishnupur District. The programme engaged 35 active youths associated with the Nambol Mongjing Leikai Student Union Club & Library. During the interactive session, personnel guided the youth on key aspects including career counseling, skill development opportunities, the value of education and the critical role of young citizens in nurturing social harmony. Participants were alerted to stay vigilant against social evils, verify facts before sharing information online and actively contribute to regional stability. Representatives of the club appreciated the proactive mentorship provided by Assam Rifles.
On the same day, Assam Rifles facilitated the vital transportation of essential relief materials from Mantripukhri in Imphal West District to the Missionaries of Charity centre at Moreh in Tengnoupal District. The Missionaries of Charity, established by Saint Mother Teresa in 1950, provides education, healthcare and shelter to nearly 60 underprivileged children at its Moreh facility, managed by four Sisters. Overcoming local transportation challenges in the border area, Assam Rifles delivered a consignment of rice, pulses, biscuits, medicines, soyabean products and daily essentials. This timely assistance ensures the uninterrupted continuity of humanitarian care and educational support for disadvantaged children along the border region.
