Imphal, August 19:

All Manipur Working Journalists Union(AMWJU), Manipur Hill Journalist Union(MHJU), and Editors’ Guild Manipur have jointly decided to boycott Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee along with its MLAs for failing to clear election-related advertisement bills. The boycott will take effect from 4pm on August 22. The President of MPCC had earlier assured the President of AMWJU to clear the pending advertisement bills. However, MPCC failed to fulfill its assurance on several occasions, and the decision to boycott MPCC was taken in a meeting of the three organisations.
The press release by the three organizations further said, “If the MPCC fails to meet the deadline set by media organisations, all news-related MPCC, activities of its MLAs, and advertisements will be boycotted by media under the organization.
The media organization has been constrained to take the decision as MPCC has failed to clear Election related advertisement bills running into several lakhs even though the election is over three months now, the statement added.
