Manipur Legislative Assembly denies reports of Rs. 29 Crore withdrawal

The Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat has reiterated that allegations of a Rs. 29 crore withdrawal, as reported by Naorem Mohen, Editor of Signpost News, in India Today NE on September 26, 2025, and subsequently by local print and electronic media, are entirely false.
In a statement issued by N. Robindro Singh, Deputy Director and Officer-in-Charge of Protocol & Media Relations, the Secretariat clarified that a thorough examination of the claims found no such withdrawal had taken place. Robindro added that the news reports had failed to seek clarification from the Assembly Secretariat before publication, resulting in a distorted narrative that misled the public.
He urged media houses that carried the false reports to retract their claims and issue appropriate clarifications in the interest of truth and responsible journalism. The statement emphasized that the Manipur Legislative Assembly remains committed to serving the public with transparency, accountability, and integrity.
