Sapamcha Jadumani, President of the Federation of Haomee, has underscored the pivotal role of indigenous communities in safeguarding Manipur’s land and securing its future. He stated that protecting the environment and defending the homeland is only possible through the collective strength and unity of traditional community organisations.
Jadumani was speaking at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao during the installation of the 25th “Indigenous Pillar,” an initiative launched by the Federation to reinforce community values and indigenous structures. He highlighted that the vitality and solidarity of indigenous groups are essential for the survival, security, and sustainable development of the land.
“The Indigenous Pillar serves as a reminder of the responsibility each community bears in preserving traditional structures and fostering harmony among different groups. Only by strengthening indigenous institutions can we build resilience and ensure long-term protection of our land,” Jadumani said.
The Federation explained that the newly unveiled pillar will act as both a symbolic and practical guide to empower indigenous groups, promote collective responsibility, and deepen mutual understanding among communities.
Through such initiatives, the Federation aims to reinforce traditional institutions, enhance community cooperation, and ensure the continued protection of Manipur’s cultural and environmental heritage.
