A person today miraculously survives after 4 persons assaulted him and chopped at his head using a dagger at around noon today. The injured person identified as RK Surjit Kumar (40), son of Rk Sanajaoba of Nongmeibung Purana Bazar Part 2 in Imphal East has been immediately evacuated to Raj Medicity and is presently undergoing treatment. His condition is critical but able to speak to reporters regarding the incident. He identified the culprits who assaulted him as brother of one Naorem Pritam (24) son of Priyokumar of Nongmeibung Pung Makhong and his 3 other colleagues.
Family members of the victim said that the attack is the second of its kind. Earlier in 2013 the same person attacked him using dagger but escaped unhurt. Naorem Pritam (age 24) was charged for raping of the victim daughter in 2012 and later in 2013. The matter was even reported to the police.
According to the victim the four person led by the brother of Pritam attacked him at Palace compound opposite to AIR office while he was going to his wife’s residence at Mahabali Kabui village. His right ear was critically cut during the attacked.
