The Makui Village Authority has appealed to the Central and Manipur governments to intervene following alleged killings, burning of houses and other violent incidents at Makui on October 10.
In a statement, the authority alleged that four persons, including two Naga Village Guards and two villagers, were killed. The deceased were identified as Machungamang Daimai, Ramningpou Gangmei, Dibambou Ringkangmai and R. Ajinpou.
The authority alleged that Ajinpou was beheaded and demanded the immediate return of his head to enable his family and community to perform the last rites according to their customary traditions. Two other persons, Mathangambou Chawang and Nashon Pame, were reportedly injured.
It further alleged that houses in several localities of Makui were burned down, church properties looted and three cows slaughtered and stolen.
The authority accused cadres of KNF (P), KRA and KNFB of involvement in the incident and urged the government and human rights organisations to intervene and ensure accountability.
