The 17th Foundation Day of the Manipur Keithel Phambi Apunba Lup (MAKPAL) was commemorated today at THAU Ground, Thangmeiband. The programme was attended by Soiraisam Memcha, President of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Oinam Bilashini, President of MAKPAL, with prominent guests of honor such as Yumkhaibam Kunjarani, President of the All Manipur Women’s Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), Nando Luwang, President of the All Manipur United Club Organisation (AMUCO), Kshetri Tama Devi, President of the Road Side Vendors Welfare Association, Tourangbam Dhyanchand, President of the All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre (AMMUC), Jano Begum, President of Kshetrigao Meira Paibee Apunba Lup, and Atompi Kamei, President of the Kabui Mother Association (KAMA).
In her speech, Oinam Bilashini highlighted the importance of unity among the indigenous people of Manipur, stating, “The only path to success lies in our unity. When the indigenous communities of the state coexist in peace and harmony, external forces will find it impossible to interfere. MAKPAL has been actively participating in every people’s movement since its inception 17 years ago. The current threat posed by immigrants can only be countered through collective unity.”
The keynote address of the event was delivered by Yumnam Ibeyaima Devi, General Secretary of MAKPAL, while Dr. Dhanabir Laishram attended as a resource person.
