Kwakeithel Bazar vendor women staged protest

Imphal, July 27: Women vendors of Kwakeithel Bazaar today staged protest demonstration by imposing 48 hours bandh in the Kwakeithel area starting from 6 am yesterday. Almost all shops and business establishment in the area were shuts during the protest. Vendor women also came to the street and halted all vehicular movement around the area for some times around noon.

The vendor women were protesting the acquisition of market place by TRAU. According to the protestors, TRAU had occupied 4 shops in the market complex for construction of their office. They said the market complex has already been reduced after portion of the market space has been acquire for road widening works. Regarding the matter memorandum had been submitted to the concern government authority and as no responses were received they left with no choice but to call the 48 hours bandh, said a protestor.
