KVK Ukhrul conducts training on Cage Culture and Rabi Crop Management

Ukhrul, October 2:
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ukhrul, ICAR-ATARI Zone VII, in collaboration with Kamjong District Federation of LAMPS Limited, organised a one-day training programme on “Cage and Pen Culture in Large Water Bodies” and “Major Insect Pest and Disease Management of Rabi Crops” at the Community Hall, Ramreo village, Kamjong district on Tuesday.
The training saw enthusiastic participation from local farmers, who were introduced to modern farming techniques aimed at enhancing production, productivity, and profitability. Key sessions highlighted scientific fishery practices suitable for hill regions, intensive fish production through cage culture, as well as scientific approaches to banana and lemon farming, beekeeping, and crop protection.
Dr. Nongthombam Suresh, Subject Matter Specialist (Fisheries), and Dr. N. Ajit Kumar, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection), served as resource persons, providing expert insights into sustainable fishery and crop management practices.
Napolean Shaiza, President of the Federation of LAMPS Ltd., thanked the experts for their guidance and noted that such programmes empower farmers with knowledge to address challenges and improve livelihoods.
The programme concluded with an interactive session where farmers discussed practical issues and expressed appreciation, affirming that the training would help them adopt improved methods for fisheries, crops, and horticulture in Kamjong district.
