Kuki people are suffering because of blatant lies to cover up crimes by the illegal immigrants: MReF

Imphal, Mar 19:

Manipur Real Estate Forum (MReF) has accused the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) of prioritizing the interests of illegal immigrants over peace and security in Manipur, condemning KIM’s alleged support for attacks on Meitei households and ethnic cleansing while urging an end to misinformation.
Manipur Real Estate Forum (MReF) in their statement stated that Kuki Inpi’s response to their article titled “Kuki Inpi Manipur Should Speak Truth,” shows that the Kuki apex body is “prioritizing the interests of Kuki people, particularly illegal immigrants, over the peace and security of Manipur’s diverse populace.”
The statement, released by T. Ramananda, President of MReF, criticizes KIM’s stance, accusing them of condoning attacks on Meitei households and violence, including killings, under the guise of responding to blockades. Ramananda dismisses these justifications as “ridiculous” and refutes claims that such actions are a norm in Manipur’s history.
Moreover, the MReF statement accuses KIM of supporting the expulsion of Meiteis from areas predominantly inhabited by Kukis, alleging land seizures and unethical conduct. KIM’s allegations against Meitei radical groups, purportedly responsible for ethnic cleansing, are rebuked by MReF, which highlights the political complexity of armed factions operating in the region.
The MReF press note lists numerous Kuki militant groups under Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreements with the Indian government, citing them as potential instigators of violence. The document further implicates additional armed Kuki and Zomi groups, as well as Mizoram Police, in the region’s turmoil.
Challenging KIM’s accusations, MReF contends that Meiteis are victims of ethnic cleansing perpetrated by Kukis, citing instances of violence against Meitei civilians, including rape and murder. The statement condemns KIM’s alleged religious exploitation and land grabbing tactics, urging an end to misinformation.
The ongoing dispute underscores the need for transparency and accountability in addressing interethnic tensions in Manipur. As accusations and counter-accusations escalate, the plight of ordinary citizens, particularly Kukis and Meiteis, remains a pressing concern amidst the region’s turbulent socio-political landscape.
