Jiribam, April 26:

The 18th Lok Sabha election in the 40-Jiribam Assembly Segment of 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency, Manipur, has concluded smoothly with tight security measures in place.
With 41 polling stations, including 5 model polling stations and 8 exclusively for women, the process was conducted peacefully. Notably, one special polling station was set up at Bidyanagar Multipurpose Sports Complex for internally displaced persons.
Out of the 30,809 eligible voters, comprising 15,660 males, 15,148 females, and 1 transgender individual, a voter turnout of 39.86% has been recorded by 1:00 pm. Among these, 6,179 males and 6,104 females have exercised their franchise.
Unique challenges such as polling stations accessible only by waterways, like Babukhal and Boroikhal, have been addressed with adequate arrangements. Moreover, 15 critical and 13 vulnerable polling stations were closely monitored.
To ensure security, five companies of CAPF have been deployed alongside armed and civil police from Manipur Police.
