The Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation, Kakching submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, outlining several pressing civic and infrastructural concerns in the district and urging immediate intervention.
The memorandum stressed the dire need for improvement of National Highway 137(A), particularly the stretch between Kakching Lamkhai and Wabagai Lamkhai, which is in horrible condition with large potholes and posing significant hardship to commuters. Despite temporary repairs, the road continues to deteriorate, and the memorandum appealed for a properly planned upgrade.
The memorandum also highlighted to upgrade the Community Health Centre (CHC), Kakching—deemed to be district hospital—since the creation of Kakching district in December 2016. The memorandum also requested that dengue and malaria testing facilities be made available at the Urban Health Centres in Kakching with proper staffing and equipment.
The memorandum called for the rejuvenation of a 2.5-km stretch of the Irum Turel from Kakching Lamdong to Irengband and Hawairou. Among the other demands submitted were the construction of multi-storeyed staff quarters at the district headquarters to improve staff efficiency and service delivery, and the construction of an RCC bridge connecting Veterinary Maning Pareng and Wairi Thong Anouba Pareng under the Kakching Ring Road. The bridge is expected to boost local connectivity and facilitate agricultural, educational, and economic activities.
The organisations also urged the opening of an Employment Exchange Office at the Kakching DC Complex. Another issue raised was the improvement of the parking area at Super Market Kakching (Market No. 2), which becomes muddy during the rainy season and dusty during the dry months. They requested that the area be developed with a concrete slab for better utility.
Lastly, the memorandum called for eviction of unauthorized occupants from state lands, particularly at C.S. Dag No. 245 under Village No. 59-Kakching Khullen. The signatories expressed hope that the Governor would look into these genuine demands of the people and initiate necessary actions.
