JCILPS demands implementation of ILP before the arrival of railway in the state

Imphal July 8: Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System in Manipur today demanded implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the state before the arrival of railway in the state.Volunteers of the Joint Committee staged a sit-in-protest at Keishampat Lairembi Community Hall demanding implementation of ILP in the state, resignation of peoples’ representatives for their failure to implement ILP after taking decision in the state Assembly and framing of law to save indigenous people in the upcoming Assembly Session.Speaking to media persons at the protest site Thokchom Ramani, General Secretary of Nupi Samaj said that the number of the indigenous population is becoming extinct as the number of non-locals increasing drastically. She also said that the situation will become worsen if the railway line reached Imphal. So it is high time to take precaution before the arrival of railway in Imphal.
