Imphal, Aug 18:
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has demanded to revoke the state cabinet decision for ILPS base year as 1961 and put 1951 as the base year for infiltering of the migrants in Manipur.
Talking to reporters, convenor of the JCILPS Phulindro Konsam said that the JCILPS has been demanding for putting the base year for checking of the illegal migrants in the state since 1951. However, the state cabinet in its decision had made 1961 the base year while implementing the Inner Line Permit System in Manipur.
“From 1951 to 1961 many foreigners have already entered the state illegally and those illegally entered foreign nationals need to be checked,” Phulindro Konsam told media persons. He said that while implementing the NRC too the government should put 1951 as the base year. Only after the base year is put at 1951 the unnatural growth of villages in various districts of the state can be checked, the JCILPS leader said.
The JCILPS also urged the government to commission the Population Commission.
