Vendor ladies decry over failure to maintain quality in constructing Khwairambandh Keithel

Vendor women of Khwairamband Ima Keithel today denounced the state government over its failure to maintain quality to the construction of Khwairamband Keithel. The vendor ladies showed the crumbled portion of the Khwairamband Keithel to reporters and questioned why the pillars were damaged during the tremor while other pillars were not damage to that quantity. She showed the reporters hollow pipes being used inside the pillar instead of iron rod.
Talking to reporters at Ima keithel President of Keithel Phambi Apunba Lup, Laishram Mema expressed displeasure to the attitude of the Chief Minister and those in the government.
“Why none of them come and inspect the condition of the Khwairamband Keithel even after 9 hours”, she asked and further said that if the tremor happened at peak hours, many could have lost their lives.
She further said that CM even tried to stay away from meeting the vendor lady who went to visit him.
The Apunba lup of the Khwairamband Keithel has been requesting the state government to look into the damages of the building since they have shifted. No concern authority has showed up so far except for Chairperson and Executive officer of IMC, she added.
L Mema further said that the state government must set up an inquiry and a harsh punishment must be serve against those responsible in the construction of the building which has been damage in today’s earthquake.
If the government fails to take up any measurement regarding the women shed, a team of 150 women vendors are set to meet the Prime Minister of India to details the exact situation being faced by the women vendors. They will leave for Delhi on January 29 and will attend the Trade Union convention then will meet the PM, Mema said.
