Imphal, June 9:
Three people were reported killed and two others severely injured in another violence at a village near Sngaithel area located in the adjoining area of Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts today morning.
Troops of 9 Sector Assam Rifle and the state police rushed to the site and intervene in the violence. The security team put the situation under control.
Report said that the violence occurred near Khoken village which lies on the boundary between Kangpokpi District and Imphal West District.
Gunshots were heard by the nearby villagers in the wee hour today at around 4,30 am.
Locals said that a team of Gurkha Rifles was performing duty near the place of the incident. The team also rushed the site. Additional columns of the army and paramilitary forces have been deployed to monitor the situation.
