Manipur joined the world in commemorating International Women’s Day which is being celebrated under the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”. Department of Social Welfare, Govt. of Manipur celebrate the day at DIPR auditorium.
The All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) celebrated International Women’s Day at Manipur Press Club with MLA Kebi as the Chief Guest.
At Chandel district International Women’s Day was celebrated at the Conference Hall, Office of the Deputy Commissioner. The event was attended by SDO Chakpikarong, SDCs HQ Chandel, DPO ICDS Chandel, DPM Chandel, Supervisors, AWWs, and Officials from various line departments within the district.
Addressing the gathering, Mayanglambam Rajkumar, Deputy Commissioner of Chandel, emphasized the significance of the day, urging all to redouble efforts towards creating a world where women and girls can flourish without encountering discrimination or inequality. He stressed the importance of collective action in breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and fostering gender equity, asserting that such efforts are crucial in shaping a more inclusive and brighter future for all.
Rajkumar also highlighted the need to honor the accomplishments of women across generations, emphasizing that the journey toward gender equality is ongoing and requires sustained commitment. As the district observed International Women’s Day, the call to action echoed not only for today but for every day, underlining the continuous march towards gender parity and empowerment.
At Senapati district, the District Administration in collaboration with Integrated Child Development Services, Nehru Yuva Kendra Senapati, One Stop Centre, and Senapati District Women Association celebrated International Women’s Day today at DRDA Conference Hall, Senapati under the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati Mamoni Doley, IAS stated that women who occupied half the population of the world should not be left behind during the progress of development. She also stated that it should not be taken as a surprise when women are taking any leadership role. She said women should also participate together with men in policy making. She also said that the safety, health, and education of women are the main concerns in investing in women for progress. She also stressed on more women-oriented programme to be organised frequently in the coming days for the upliftment of women in the district. She appealed to the CMO, CSOs, ICDS, and the public to come forward and work together for the betterment of society.
The Superintendent of Police, Senapati Anupam, IPS in her guest of honour speech said every girl child should be given unconditional bringing for their upliftment in society. She also said that men should also learn to respect women’s opinions.
