As observed in different parts of the world, the International Nurses’ Day has been observed in different parts of the state today.
Organized by Regional Institute of Nurses’ Association (RIMS), Lamphelpet the day was observed at RIMS’s Mini Auditorium.
Director of RIMS, Professor S Rita Devi; Nursing Superintendent of RIMS, Th Chinglembi and other dignitaries, who attended the observance remembered the works and contributions made by reformer of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.
Addressing at the gathering, S Rita Devi, said that for the first time the International Nurses’ Day has been observed in 1953 in remembrance of the contributions made by Florence.
The works and contribution made by Florence- ‘Lady with the lamp’- gives an impetus to the nursing profession. Those who are in the nursing profession need to take care of patients with love. Improvement in healthcare services could only be happen when the nurses and doctors work together with full cooperation.
The day was also observed at JNIMS hospital by Nurses Association JNIMS unit with Dr J Suresh Babu, Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, as Chief Guest at the Conference Hall of the hospital.
Recalling the contributions of the Florence to mankind, Dr Suresh Babu appealed nurses to dedicate to the service of mankind.
