IJU National Executive Committee Meeting kicked off in Tirupati in Andra Pradesh

Tirupati, Sept 13: National Executive Meeting of the Indian Journalists Union, IJU, the largest Union of journalists in the country, kicks start in Andra Pradesh’s Tirupati at Reddy Bhavana.
IJU President, SN Singha inaugurating the 2 days meet termed it as the most crucial gathering of working journalists of the country. Over the next three days, i.e. 13-15th September, 2014, the Meet will deliberate on crucial issues like Govt’s proposed labour reform which is likely to have an adverse impact of the working condition of the journalists, Supreme Court’s judgement to enforce the Majithia Wage broad amongst others. The national executive Committee meeting is expected to take crucial decisions on the issues as well as deliberate on the current threats to the freedom of Press due to monopoly of the corporates.
Later after the inauguration function, issues of the journalists were deliberated in the post lunch technical session. All Manipur Working Journalists Union, which is an affiliate member of IJU is represented in the national executive Committee Meeting by its Vice President Ratan Luwang and Asem Bhakta and Sunzu Bachaspatimayum, both members of the Standing Committee of AMWJU.
