 “I have ordered to kill all the dogs that are sets free on the roads at Churachandpur district.” This is the remark of the state government Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing in response to the spread of rabies in the district due to dog bite.
State government still do not have a concrete policy to tackle the rabies cases caused by dog bite, which had cost over 10 lives in Churachandpur district alone. Speaking during the inaugural function of the Pulse Polio Immunization at the office premises of the Family Welfare department, Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing said that the he do not know how to tackle this issue of rabies cases cause by dog bite. Stating that there are over 10 cases of dog bite cases reported from Thoubal district and over 10 lives had been taken due to rabies in Churachandpur district, Phunzathang Tonsing said that he had initially ordered to kill all the stray dogs to district superintendent of police.
“I have order the SP Churachandpur district to kill all the dogs which are freely sets on the road in the district, but Meneka Gandhi do not like it,” Tonsing said mockingly.
He said that he is confused on how to protect human being from the mad dogs.
