In a spirited display of patriotism ahead of the 79th Independence Day, thousands of participants across Manipur joined the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign through bike rallies, marches, and awareness events.
In Imphal, around 1,017 bikers — including 137 from the Manipur Police Department and 880 from various biker clubs — took part in a 33.5 km Har Ghar Tiranga bike rally organised jointly by the Manipur Police Department and the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. The rally, flagged off from Hapta Kangjeibung by Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, and Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, concluded at the historic Khongjom War Memorial complex.
Speaking at the event, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh expressed gratitude to all participants, saying the rally was “energised with the thoughts of serving the country.” The state government, in a post on X, described the rally as symbolising “the spirit of unity, patriotism, and pride” as the nation gears up for the Independence Day celebrations.
In Jiribam district, bordering Assam’s Cachar, the district administration in coordination with the District Police, 87 Bn CRPF, and Assam Rifles also held a Tiranga Bike Rally. Flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, from Irawat Square, Babupara, the rally saw 90 riders from 87 Bn CRPF, led by Deputy Commandant Sanjay Singh, and 30 riders from the district administration and police. The rally concluded at Dibong Khunou after spreading messages of patriotism and unity along its route.
District officials, including Superintendent of Police Senmi Ramror and other senior officers, turned up to support the riders. DC Krishna Kumar highlighted that such activities are aimed at fostering pride in the Tricolour and instilling a shared sense of responsibility for India’s progress and prosperity. A Tiranga March involving around 100 students from Jiri College and Jiribam Higher Secondary School was also held, organised by the ZEO Jiribam, and followed the same route as the bike rally.
At Manipur University, the NSS Cell organised a Har Ghar Tiranga rally under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Ministry of Higher Education, Government of India. Led by the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean of Student Welfare, senior faculty, MUTA and MUSU presidents, and NSS volunteers, around 400 participants marched from the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat to the university gate. Programme Coordinator Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh, in his vote of thanks, lauded the participants for their commitment to making the event a grand success.
The Har Ghar Tiranga initiative, under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, encourages citizens to bring the national flag home and hoist it with pride, strengthening the personal and emotional bond with the Tricolour while reinforcing collective dedication to nation-building.
In Imphal West also, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign rally was held at different schools under the Zonal Education Officer Zone One. The rally was participated by students and teachers of different schools along with staff of Zonal Education Office Zone One.
