The Hailstorm Relief Committee, Lions International District 322D, Manipur Region, held the closing function for the distribution of relief materials to families affected by the recent hailstorm on May 5, 2024. The event took place at the Lions Service Centre, Lions Club of Imphal, Sangaiparou.
The function was attended by several distinguished guests, including Lion Th. Kesho Singh, District Governor (Elect), Lions International District 322D, Lion H. Manikumar Singh, Past District Governor, and other senior Lion leaders from various clubs across Manipur.
Lion Th. Mohendra Pratap Singh, Convenor of the Hailstorm Disaster Relief Committee (HDRC), delivered the welcome address and provided a detailed report on the project. He informed attendees that 48 families had been provided with one bundle of Tata Shakti brand GCI sheets each. These beneficiaries were selected based on social and economic criteria recommended by various Lions Clubs in Manipur.
The HDRC’s efforts covered areas within the jurisdictions of Lions Clubs in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching Districts, and Nambol, Ninthoukhong, and Moirang subdivisions of Bishnupur District. An initial target of aiding 40 families was surpassed, reaching a total of 48 families. Lion Th. Mohendra Pratap Singh expressed gratitude to the Lions of Manipur for their active participation and dedication, which made the timely completion of the project possible.
Lion Y. Ranjit Singh, Co-Convenor, presented a detailed financial account of the project and thanked fellow Lions for their timely contributions, which ensured the success of the relief efforts. During the event, dignitaries handed over GCI sheets to seven beneficiaries.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks from Lion Ranjit Singh, Vice President of the Lions Club of Imphal, who expressed appreciation to everyone involved for their support and contribution to the successful completion of the project.
