Govt. serious on the detention of Minister by AR- HM

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who is also in charge of Home today said that the Assam Rifles officer responsible for detention of the RD Minister Francis Ngazokpa and MLA Korungthang at Khudenthabi some days back has been asked for appropriate action to their authority. Replying to a calling attention motion raised by MLA L Ibomcha, Gaikhngam said that as the concern officer not only halt the Minister but also disregard the national flag, the state government is taking the matter seriously. He said the home department had prepared a file and is under process for punishment of the concern officer who was responsible for the detention of the Minister who came in a flag post vehicle.
On the presence of a unnecessary check post along the Imphal Moreh road which allegedly harass the commuters, Gaikhangam said that his government has directed to reduce the number of check post along the route. He said government is planning to utilize X-ray vehicle scanner for convenience of commuters however as installing such a machine would cost over 50 crore the government is not in the position to procure it. However, the central Home Affairs Ministry has been requested to bear the cost for installation of such a machine and it is on process, Gaikhangam added.
He further added that the government had already advice the AR authority to establish check point at only important places.
