Imphal, May 5: On repeated failure and prolong negligence for construction of road connecting Langthabal Thong Amanbi to Little Rose School, Canchipur, locals of Langthabal Mantrikhong Mayai Leikai and Khumbom Selung Leikai in association with Meira Paibis of the said Leikais and Langthabal Mantrikhong Lairam Keithel Youth Committee has blocked the road since May 3 and staged sit-in- protest.
While serving May 10 as ultimatum to construct the road, the protestors also warned to launch series of agitations if the government failed to comply with their demand.
According to members of the Youth Committee, the locals has raised the issue to local MLA several times regarding the pathetic condition of the road and inconveniences caused to locals but nothing has been done till date.
Though the road is small and narrow, it is used by many as the stretch is direct short cut from NH 107 to Irabot Road (Mayai Lambi). On top of it, numbers of private schools are situated along the stretch, asserted the protestors. However, the condition of the road has worsened drastically due to lack of development for many years and it has become an accident prone area.
