Several districts of the state marked the ongoing Good Governance Week 2024, commemorating former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary with workshops and events highlighting transparent, accountable governance.
In Tamenglong, the District Administration hosted a Good Governance Day at Tamenglong Higher Secondary School. Themed “Good Governance towards Tribal Areas,” the event was attended by district officials, including SDO D. Meidinbui, who emphasized government initiatives aimed at rural communities. Traffic safety improvements, a new police station at Kaimai, and a Women Police Station at Tamenglong Police Station were announced. Education received a boost with a new residential school in Langmei village, while the Forest Department pledged to plant one lakh saplings annually.
In Churachandpur, a workshop at the DC’s Conference Hall showcased initiatives like enhanced healthcare access for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and displaced students’ educational support, including free textbooks and coaching centers. The Health Department achieved 100% saturation in KPIs in Lamka South Block and issued 423 PMJAY and 9 CMHT cards to IDPs.
Bishnupur District conducted a one-day workshop featuring governance practices in health, education, and rural livelihoods. Highlights included the Chief Minister’s Health for All Scheme, forest fire prevention measures, and efficient service delivery initiatives like prepaid power meter installations. Transgender Certificate Registration camps were also organized, registering 50 individuals.
In Kamjong, the District Administration held a workshop emphasizing accessibility, transparency, and effective service delivery. Deputy Commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter called for year-round good governance efforts, urging officials to work with integrity.
The week-long campaign has seen the successful disposal of over 780 applications, seven workshops, and community-focused events, reinforcing the government’s commitment to accessible governance.
