FOCS condemns grenade attack to its President’s residence

The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) expressed strong condemnation to the hurling of a hand grenade at the residence of FOCS president Thoidingjam Manihar in Kongba Kshetri Leikai, Ucheckon Road, Imphal, at around 9 pm yesterday.
Talking to media persons at Kakwa Boiroi Makhong, Vice President of FOCS, BM Yaima Shah highlighted the significant role played by President Thoidingjam Manihar during these crisis times. BM Shah said, “In the ongoing violence perpetrated by narco-terrorists since May 3, 2023, Manihar has been leading FOCS and collaborating with various organizations dedicated to the welfare of the people.”
BM Shah further said that the attack on Manihar’s residence is not just an isolated incident but is symbolic of the larger threat faced by the citizens of Manipur.
“FOCS has been actively working towards the betterment of the community and advocating for peace amid the escalating violence,” he said.
BM Shah appealed the perpetrators to come forward and clarify to the motives behind the grenade attack. He stressed the importance of accountability and justice, stating that such acts of violence cannot be tolerated in a society striving for peace and harmony.
Meanwhile, seven civil society organizations from Jiribam district today vehemently condemn the grenade attack to the residence of FOCS president Th. Manihar. A statement jointly signed by Pari Puri Athouba Ningsing Lup, Jiri Development Organisation (JDO), Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL), United Jiri Youth League (UJYE) , Jiri Apunba Khuna Chaokhat Lup (JAKCL), and CADA warns serious agitations if the authority fails to produce the perpetrators.
