The 93rd death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang was observed today across various locations in the state. The main state function was held at Haipou Jadonang Park, Keishampat, in Imphal. The observance, organized by the Haipou Jadonang Park and Development Committee under the aegis of the Zeliangrong Union, Assam-Manipur-Nagaland, began at 7:30 a.m. with floral tributes to the statue of the pioneering leader, followed by traditional rituals. The day was also marked at Haipou Jadonang Park in Tamenglong district headquarters, where a newly installed statue of Haipou Jadonang was unveiled by Water Resources Minister Awangbou Newmai. Nungba MLA Dinganglung Gangmei and Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung Panmei also attended the unveiling ceremony.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh paid tribute to Haipou Jadonang on the 93rd anniversary of his death through an official post on the social media platform ‘X’. Jadonang, a revered leader and symbol of resistance, has left an indelible mark on the collective memory of the people.
In his message, Chief Minister Singh emphasized the enduring influence of Jadonang’s leadership and his commitment to justice and self-determination. “Today, as we commemorate the 93rd death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang, we honor a visionary leader whose legacy continues to inspire us,” N. Biren wrote. He urged a moment of reflection on Jadonang’s unwavering spirit and the values he championed.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Jadonang’s fight for justice and self-determination remains a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience inherent in the community. “Let us reflect on his unyielding spirit and renew our dedication to the values he championed,” Singh stated. His words served as a call to action for continued commitment to the principles Jadonang advocated, reinforcing the leader’s relevance in contemporary struggles for equity and autonomy.
Haipou Jadonang, who passed away on this day in 1931, is celebrated for his role in advocating for the rights and self-determination of the people in the region.
