On National Sports Day, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh extended his heartfelt greetings to athletes, coaches, and sports enthusiasts across the nation, highlighting the significance of sports in building character and fostering unity. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Singh emphasized the dual role of sports in enhancing discipline and creating a strong sense of community.
“On the occasion of National Sports Day, I extend my greetings to all the athletes, coaches, and sports enthusiasts across the nation,” Chief Minister Singh wrote. “Sports not only build character and discipline but also foster unity, resilience, and a sense of community. Let us reaffirm our commitment to nurturing and supporting our sports talent.”
In addition to his message for National Sports Day, Singh expressed support for the Indian team preparing for the Paris Paralympics 2024. In another post, he praised the team’s spirit and commitment, wishing them success in their upcoming endeavors.
“I extend my best wishes to the Indian Team on their journey to the Paris Paralympics 2024. They embody the spirit of resilience and excellence, and I am confident that they will make the nation proud with their outstanding performances. Best of luck, and may you achieve great success,” Singh stated.
The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to encourage local athletes, spotlighting Elangbam Panthoi Chanu, a distinguished footballer from the state. Panthoi Chanu recently met with the Chief Minister at his Secretariat. Singh lauded her dedication and exceptional skills as a goalkeeper for Metro United WFC and the India women’s football team.
“Elangbam Panthoi Chanu, a remarkable Indian professional footballer, called on me at my Secretariat. Her dedication and exceptional skills are truly commendable. I extend my best wishes to her for continued success and achievements in her future endeavors,” Singh wrote.
National Sports Day, observed annually on August 29 to honor hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, serves as a reminder of the importance of sports and the athletes who inspire with their achievements. Singh’s messages underscore his commitment to celebrating and supporting both national and local sporting talent.
