A felicitation programme honouring 35 individuals who have received recognition at national and international levels was held at Loktak Hall, Manipur Press Club, yesterday. The event was organised by the Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur. Among those honoured was Koingamba, Advisor of Arambai Tengol.
The function was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi (New Delhi) National Secretary Dr. Yumnam Mahendrakumar, retired Director of the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, Dr. K. Sobita, State Secretary of Manipur State Scouts Union, L. Tondon, and social worker Nongthombam Dilipkumar, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, President and Guests of Honour.
During the ceremony, the dignitaries presented gifts and words of encouragement to the awardees, appreciating their contributions and achievements in diverse fields.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba said that recognising talented and dedicated individuals not only motivates them but also inspires others to pursue excellence. He cautioned that without such encouragement, many capable people may go unnoticed despite their valuable contributions.
He further observed that honouring achievers gives society the strength to move forward and helps build a more progressive state. Expressing optimism, Maharaja Leishemba said that when hardworking and committed individuals are supported, Manipur will emerge stronger and more developed, showcasing the rich talents of its people to the world.
