Talking to reporters at Lengpui Airport, Valte shared that he received very limited financial assistance from the state of Manipur during his prolonged treatment in Delhi, despite the severity of his condition.
He further condemned former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, stating that “he has been against the Zo community right from the beginning.”
Delivering his first public message since the attack, Valte urged unity among the ethnic Zo people, stating, “Since we are all descendants of the Zo community, we should come together in many forms.”
Valte, who represented Thanlon constituency, Manipur was attacked on May 4, 2023, in Imphal, shortly after attending a meeting with the Chief Minister. The assault left him with multiple injuries and partial paralysis, forcing his relocation to Delhi for months of intensive medical care.
