Imphal, April 22:

Congress Candidate Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam bluntly asserts that those resorting to proxy voting, intimidation, and violence on April 19, 2024, will be exposed to the public scrutiny in due time. During his inspection at a re-polling site in Bamon Kampu, he made it clear that Ebudhou Pakhangba, the divine entity, witnesses and discerns the actions of these individuals.
Addressing the media post-inspection, he stated, “Ebudhou Pakhangba, in his divine wisdom, perceives and acknowledges those who resorted to proxy voting, intimidation, and violence on April 19. We, ordinary humans, have witnessed videos, heard audio recordings, and seen photographic evidence of these culprits. When the moment of truth arrives, they will face the consequences; there’s no escaping accountability.”
He continued, “One crucial aspect we must acknowledge is the fear among people to name those who claim to protect Manipur, serve the people, and uphold its interests. We must ponder the underlying reasons for this fear. Eventually, the public will uncover the identities of these troublemakers.”
“The primary concern here is that these individuals have tarnished the reputation of the people of Manipur through their actions,” he emphasized. Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam also stressed the importance of distinguishing between those genuinely dedicated to safeguarding Manipur and its residents and those who accept government benefits and engage in unlawful activities. “These individuals have brought shame upon Manipur,” he added.
Continuing his remarks, Dr. Bimol emphasized, “There are numerous village volunteers who quietly and sincerely defend Manipur. They tirelessly work for the welfare of the people and the state. Over the past 11 months, I’ve personally met and interacted with many of them. The majority of these volunteers are dedicated and honest in their service to the public. It’s unfortunate that a few leaders have tarnished the reputation of this group. Time will expose both the perpetrators and those who directed them.”
Expressing his deep sentiment for his homeland, he lamented, “As someone who deeply loves my motherland, it pains me to see both national and international media painting such negative portrayals of Manipur. The prestige of Manipur has been unjustly dragged down to unprecedented levels. Look at how national and international media are shaping the perception of Manipur; they are not considering how this impacts the people’s perception of our state.”
Continuing his discourse, Dr. Bimol emphasized the importance of halting the use of muscle power, intimidation, threats, and assaults in the electoral process, citing the successful cessation of such practices even in states like Bihar. He questioned, “What harm is there in ensuring free and fair elections where the public can freely choose their preferred candidate?”
Reflecting on the events of the election day on April 19, he remarked, “There are intelligence units in place. Authorities should have foreseen potential disruptions on polling day and made adequate preparations. It’s evident that the establishment was involved in the entire incident. The violence that ensued since May 3, 2024, is interconnected with the events of the election day.”
