A significant milestone in strengthening tribal education was marked today with the inauguration of the newly constructed Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Riha Village, Kamjong District. Leishiyo Keishing, MLA, presided over the inaugural ceremony as Chief Guest, in the presence of Rangnamei Rang Peter, Deputy Commissioner Kamjong, along with SDOs, SDCs and District Level Officers. School authorities, community leaders, and villagers also attended the programme.
The event commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the MLA, followed by a welcome address by Charuk Haji, who highlighted the transformative role of EMRS in expanding access to quality education for tribal students in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Leishiyo Keishing expressed gratitude to the people of Riha and acknowledged their support in establishing the institution. He stressed the importance of value-based and disciplined education to nurture responsible and committed citizens. He encouraged teachers and caretakers to mentor students with dedication and urged community elders to continue extending their cooperation.
In his remarks, Deputy Commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter underscored the significance of quality education in rural and tribal areas. He highlighted that EMRS, with its specialized teacher-student ratio and residential facilities, will provide conducive learning conditions and help shape future leaders.
