Addressing the trainees, Kiyam Chandrakumar called for accurate and actual data collection during the pre-test exercise to be conducted in Ward No. 16 (Chingamakha) under the Imphal Municipal Corporation. He highlighted that enumerators and supervisors should visit every household and record correct information to ensure a reliable census report.
It was pointed out that the Census, initially to be conducted in 2021, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first phase comprising house listing and housing census, will now be conducted from April to September 2026, followed by the second phase of population enumeration from February 9 to 28, 2027, and a revision round from March 1 to 5, 2027.
Enumeration will be carried out as part of the pre-test in Ward No. 16 (Chingamakha) for the urban area and four selected villages of Ukhrul District for the rural area from November 10 to 30, 2025. Self-enumeration for the selected areas started from November 1 and will continue till November 7. The training for urban enumerators and supervisors is being imparted at Imphal while the training for their rural counterparts is being held at Ukhrul.
