Proscribed group Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), Poirei group expressed displeasure at the Manipur Education department over its failure to maintain quality education in the state.
In a press statement signed by Publicity Secretary, Malemnganba Meetei, the outfit said that despite the existence of adequate government schools in the state, many parents spent huge amount of money while enrolling their children in private schools run by different firms. This fact shows that government schools are lacking in qualified teachers and infrastructures for the students.
The release also said that most of the government schools are turning out to be business sectors while the government teachers are being turned into raw-materials of the very business sector. During selection of government teachers, the qualified applicants are left behind while the selectors, running like dogs behind MLAs and Ministers only to fill their pockets with uncountable balances. Even the selected teachers from the valley areas do not want to be transferred to the hill areas, same goes for the teachers selected from the hill areas. Such teachers consider their posting places to be permanent as fixing preferred posting places by bribing the education minister has become the accepted norm, Publicity Secretary, Malemnganba Meetei added.
The outfit further said that many awareness programmes has been conducted to bring quality education in the state, unfortunately the education minister and the workers of the education department seems to be working only to fill their own pocket.
They are the representatives selected by the public believing a change could be bought in the education system but failure to fulfil the expectations of the public should be reason enough to vacate their posts.
The outfit has started monitoring the functioning of the department, declaring that the group will not entertain the excuses of those who are found guilty while urging the department and related authorities to perform their tasks with sincerity instead of submitting concocted reports to the centre without any actual work on the ground and taking of percentage from the SSA project must be stopped.
