The ongoing hunger strike by students of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) has garnered strong support from the university’s Alumni Association leadership. The Alumni Association, including its president, executive members, and around 10 additional members, has rallied behind the students since their strike commenced on July 9, 2024. The team today visited and showed their support to the students undergoing hunger strike at DMU campus today.
Sanasam Joykumar Singh, Secretary of the DMU Alumni Association (DMCAA), publicly endorsed the students’ actions, stating, “The students’ hunger strike is justified and supported to save the university.” He emphasized the association’s firm backing and called on the government to address the students’ demands promptly.
The Alumni Association has issued a stern warning that failure to address the issues will prompt further action. They expressed their readiness to join the students in the hunger strike, presenting a united front in their fight for the university’s betterment.
The association members reiterated the urgent need for reforms, highlighting the students’ and university’s demands. These include the immediate resumption of exam schedules and the admission process for new students, both of which have been severely disrupted, impacting the academic futures of many.
