“It is no time to celebrate; the passing of the three Bills in the state Legislative Assembly is only a step forward to achieve the goal. Now we have to draw the attention of the Central government so that the Bills are converted into acts”, said Moirangthem Angamba, President of Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) in an exclusive interview with Imphal Times reporter.. He said the Volunteers of DESAM will continue to hold the fast-unto-death protest until the dead body of Sapam Robinhood has been cremated. On the other hand the DESAM President appealed the 58 MLAs of the state to urge the central government for giving the assent of the governor or the president to the three Bills so that it can be converted into Act.
“It is the duty of the representatives elected by the people to save the indigenous population of the state”, said Angamba.
On the closure of the schools, the DESAM President appealed the government to immediately arrange a way to cover up the missing classes of the students either by arranging special classes or extra classes.
Regarding the opposition of the passing of the Bills by Hill based students’ body, Angamba said that the matter should be sort out in amicable way. He said that the Hill base student organizations should points the content of the Bills that they don’t like.
