A 4 month Skill Upgradation Training Programme organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal began yesterday at Embroidery Training Centre, WangooTera under Kakching Block. The programme is being organised to upgrade the vocational skills of rural women and to take up income generation programme. Around 24 girls from Wangoo Heinouyam, Tera, Chuthek Leikai, Laipham and Wango Sandangkhong are participating in the training programme. S. Sangila Devi is the instructor for the training programme.
Loitongbam Sarat Meitei, Pradhan Wangoo Gram Panchayat, PhilemJotin Singh, Ward Member and K. Lokendro Singh, Member, DACYP attended the inaugural function of the training programme as the Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
In his inaugural address Y. Laksman Singh, District Youth Coordinator, NYK Thoubal pointed out the scope of the training programme to the youths. He said that the training will help them to improve their vocational skills and enable them for self-sustainable in the near future.The training programme will empower the women by upgrading their skills for better living and self-esteem. The young will become self-reliant and self-employed through SUTP. He further explained that Wangoo is affected by the recent flood and by giving this training programme will definitely help the poor to a better change in generating income. After the completion of the training programme the successful youths will be tight up with the JSS and Banks for further sustainability.
