Various armed rebel organizations in the region have called total shut down all over Manipur (Kangleipak) on October 15 – the day Manipur was merged to the Indian Union in 1949.
Conglomerate of armed rebel group CorCom, has called total shut down on the day from 6 am to 6 pm while another armed rebel group Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA) Kangleipak called total shut down from 5 am to 5 pm on the day. Media, Electricity, water supply, fire brigade, medicals and rituals related activities will be exempted during the total shut down.
CorCom in a statement said that Manipur was annexed by India in collusion with the Congress party on October 15 1949, and in 2023, the government of India engineered a communal conflict in Manipur by using puppet government and their henchmen. It said that the day is observed as ‘National black Day’ by the CorCom.
The statement by the publicity committee of the CorCom further said that the communal conflict engineered by the Government of India, a large number of innocent people have been killed, many people are missing and a strong feeling of animosity has gripped several ethnic groups who were hitherto living together in peace.
When Modi visited Manipur on November 30, 2014, CorCom termed it a bad omen for the people of Manipur and it has turned out to be true today, the statement said. The statement alleged that the Government of India has been scheming to ignite bloodshed and internal wars among the ethnic groups of Manipur to transform the State into a land dominated by Indian people.
It then called upon all the people of Manipur (Kangleipak) to wake up and see the conspiracies of India.
Saying that Manipur belongs to all the people settled within its boundary, the CorCom called upon all the ethnic groups to promote peaceful co-existence and collective development, and to wage war against India collectively.
In a statement the Publicity & Organisation Secretary of SOREPA, said that the armed group will support all organizations and revolutionary group of the region standing against the force annexation of Manipur. It said that Manipur is still a suppress nation after India forcible annexed in the line of the British colonial ruler. The people under the colonial regime cannot make its own legislation and cannot take up any works without the permission of the colonial master. The colonial masters extract and loot all the natural resources of the region and then created a market colony again. The SOREPA also gives example of coal and petroleum that were extracted from Meghalaya and Assam. The outfit also elaborated how the people of the region have become a depended state after it was forcibly annexed to the Indian union.
