The Congress party’s nationwide signature campaign, “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhor” (Vote Thieves, Vacate the Chair), was launched in Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency on Friday. The event was organised by the Hiyanglam Block Congress Committee at the residence of former Hiyanglam MLA Elangbam Dwijamani at Hiyanglam Awang Leikai.
The launching programme was attended by CLP leader and former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Khundrakpam MLA Th. Lokeshwar, former MPCC president M. Okendro, former MLAs Kh. Loken and Md. Fajur Rahim, along with several senior leaders and party workers.
Addressing the gathering, Sugnu MLA K. Ranjit Singh said that the Congress party is preparing to field candidates in the 2027 Assembly elections who will act independently to resolve State issues rather than wait for the Centre’s directions. He criticized the “cowardice” and “incompetence” of BJP MLAs, calling it a matter of shame before the people of Manipur.
K. Ranjit further alleged that Central leaders view Manipur’s people and legislators with disdain, leaving BJP MLAs in Delhi unable to secure an audience with the high command.
