Commemoration of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ held at Kangla Western Gate

A programme to commemorate 150 years of the iconic patriotic song “Vande Mataram” was held at the Western Gate of Kangla on Friday, bringing together officials, cultural groups, students and members of the public in a display of patriotism and national unity.
The event featured a series of programmes including floral tribute, inaugural session, welcome address and speeches highlighting the historical significance of Vande Mataram and its role in India’s freedom movement. Cultural performances with patriotic themes were also presented as part of the commemoration.
A major highlight of the programme was the Pipe Band display, where the band played a set of patriotic tunes including Vande Mataram, Kadam-Kadam, Jahan Dal-Dal Par, Ae Watan Ae Watan, Slow March, Drum Roll, Vijay Bharat, Desh Ka Sartaj Bharat, Jai Janam Bhumi and Sare Jahan Se Achha. Speakers urged the youth to uphold the spirit of nationalism, unity and respect for the nation’s heritage, while recalling the message of sacrifice and dedication reflected in Vande Mataram.
