Manipur shines at IndiaSkills North East Regional Competition 2025–26

Manipur delivered an outstanding performance at the IndiaSkills North East Regional Competition 2025–26, securing multiple Gold Medals, Silver Medals, and Medallions of Excellence across a wide range of skill trades. The competition was held from 19th to 21st January 2026 at Guwahati University (onsite) and Assam Downtown University (offsite) in Assam, with additional offsite competitions conducted at the World Skill Centre, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Organised by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, the regional competition brought together skilled youth from across the North Eastern States and provided national-level exposure to young talent.
Participants from Manipur competed in multiple trades and achieved commendable success. In Electrical Installation, Bachaspatimayum Akanta Sharma of Government ITI, Takyel, won the Gold Medal at Guwahati University, while Hijam Beksin Singh of Government ITI, Kakching, received a Medallion of Excellence.
In Carpentry, Jenson Mayanglambam of Government ITI, Kakching, secured the Silver Medal.
Manipur also excelled in hospitality-related trades. In Bakery, Nongmaithem Arbind Singh of Government ITI, Takyel, won the Gold Medal, while Lairenjam Inunganbi Chanu, also from Government ITI, Takyel, received the Silver Medal at Assam Downtown University.
In Cooking, Singamayum Tazmira from JCRE Skill Solutions was awarded a Medallion of Excellence.
Strong performances were also recorded in Fashion Technology, where Makujieliu Kamei and Daina Maibam, both from Women ITI, Imphal, earned Medallions of Excellence at Guwahati University.
In advanced manufacturing skills, Laishram Rishi Singh of CIPET Imphal won the Gold Medal in CNC Milling, while Saikhom Lanchenba Singh, also from CIPET Imphal, secured the Gold Medal in CNC Turning at the World Skill Centre, Bhubaneswar.
The achievements underline Manipur’s growing strength in technical and vocational skills and reflect the sustained efforts of ITIs, training centres, and skill development institutions in the State. The medal winners will now move closer to representing the region at higher-level national competitions.
