COCOMI thanks public for support to people’s rally

The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity expressed gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support and participation in the people’s rally organised to highlight issues arising from the crisis in Manipur that began on May 3, 2023.
In a statement, COCOMI said the prolonged unrest had severely affected normal life in the state, including displacement of families, disruption of national highways and setbacks to education, the economy and social harmony. It said public support for the rally reflected collective concern over the situation and the demand for protection of constitutional rights.
The committee acknowledged the participation of civil society organisations, community groups, women’s groups including Meira Paibis, traders, students, internally displaced persons and volunteers who contributed to the success of the rally and related public meetings.
COCOMI also thanked transport bodies, donors, medical teams, the Indian Red Cross Society, hospitals and clinics for providing logistical and medical support, including ambulances and emergency services. Appreciation was extended to district authorities, security personnel, local clubs and organisations for ensuring arrangements such as drinking water, food distribution, parking and crowd management.
The committee further conveyed its appreciation to national and state electronic and print media, as well as social media platforms, for providing coverage and disseminating information about the rally.
COCOMI said the support and cooperation of the people strengthened the collective effort and reaffirmed its commitment to continue working for the unity and integrity of Manipur.
