COCOMI alleges “Divide-and-Destabilise Strategy” behind delay in release of abducted persons

Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) Convenor Y.K. Dhiren has alleged that the delay in securing the release of abducted persons was part of a “planned strategy” aimed at creating division and conflict among communities in Manipur.
He made the remarks during a public meeting organised today at Luwangsangbam Mayai Leikai Community Hall under the aegis of Luwangsangbam Apunba Meira Paibi and Koirengei Kabui Women Society.
Speaking at the gathering, Y.K. Dhiren reiterated the demand for military crackdown against what he termed “Kuki terrorists” involved in the ongoing proxy war. He alleged that despite the passage of several months since the abduction of civilians, the authorities had failed to make serious efforts to trace or rescue the missing persons.
The COCOMI Convenor further claimed that the prevailing situation was part of a larger “game plan” designed to provoke ethnic conflict among different communities in the state. He asserted that if sincere efforts had been made, the abducted individuals could have been rescued within a day.
Alleging that the continued delay was intended to fuel communal tension, Dhiren stated that the people must collectively decide how to respond to what he described as attempts to divide communities. He further accused the Government of India of using “proxy forces” in the conflict and alleged that narco-terrorist groups were being allowed to carry out violent activities, including arson attacks.
He also alleged that the Centre had failed to take decisive action to restore normalcy in the state.
Others who attended the programme included Treasurer of Luwangsangbam Apunba Meira Paibi Punsungbam Manjabi, Advisor of Nupi Samaj, President of Koirengei Kabui Women Society Alung Panmei, Aenon Village Luwangshangbam member Veikhi, and COCOMI Co-Convenor Yumkhaibam Surjitkumar.
