CM reviews Airport Terminal Works, calls for timely completion

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today inspected the ongoing construction of the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) and cargo terminal at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, stressing timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Secretary, Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Anurag Bajpai, Commissioner to Chief Minister N. Ashok Kumar, Director, Transport Kh. Diana Devi, Chief Engineer, Public Works Department Ch. Biswachandra Singh and other officials of the Airport Authority of India.
Reviewing the progress of the works, Khemchand directed all concerned agencies to ensure that the NITB is completed within the stipulated timeline and that the already constructed cargo terminal is made operational at the earliest. He highlighted the strategic importance of the project in strengthening connectivity and boosting economic growth in the region.
In a statement shared on social media, the Chief Minister noted that while the project has made encouraging progress, certain shortcomings in workmanship were observed. He said necessary instructions have been issued for immediate rectification to maintain quality standards.
The Chief Minister also reviewed facilities at the air cargo terminal during the visit and reiterated the government’s commitment to improving airport infrastructure and enhancing passenger convenience and service delivery.
Earlier in the day, Khemchand inspected ongoing road and drainage construction works at Paona Bazaar and urged the concerned authorities to expedite the projects for early completion.
