Former Speaker Dr. Maneruddin Sheikh passes away; CM condoles

Former Education Minister and former Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Dr. Maneruddin Sheikh, passed away today.
Dr. Sheikh, who represented the 30-Lilong Assembly Constituency, was a prominent political figure and a respected leader of the Meitei Pangal community.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh expressed deep sorrow over his demise. In a condolence message shared on social media, the Chief Minister stated that Dr. Sheikh’s passing has created a void in public life that will be difficult to fill.
He described the late leader as a committed statesman who made significant contributions to public welfare and inclusive development. Recalling his tenure as Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister said Dr. Sheikh would be remembered for his vision and dedication.
Conveying condolences, the Chief Minister extended his sympathies to the bereaved family, relatives, and well-wishers, and prayed for strength for them to endure the loss. He also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
