Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday called on Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to deliberate on the prevailing challenges in strife-hit Manipur.
According to an official social media update from the President’s office, the meeting focused on the continuing ethnic unrest between the Meitei and Kuki communities, and the need for sustained efforts to restore normalcy in the state.
Yumnam Khemchand Singh, who assumed office as the 13th Chief Minister of Manipur on February 4, is tasked with steering the state through a prolonged period of instability and rebuilding trust among communities affected by the violence.
The crisis intensified in May 2023 during the tenure of former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, whose resignation came amid escalating tensions. The situation subsequently led to the imposition of President’s Rule in an effort to stabilise law and order.
