Chief Secretary conducted a detailed review of health facilities and infrastructure issues in the Valley Districts today at 11:30 AM. The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Special Secretary (Health & Family Welfare), Director of Health Services, State Mission Director, Deputy Commissioners, Chief Medical Officers, and state-level nodal officers.
Deputy Commissioners and Chief Medical Officers presented detailed reports outlining critical challenges such as human resource shortages, infrastructure deficiencies, and district-specific issues, including inadequate ambulance availability. Based on these presentations, the Chief Secretary issued several directives to address the concerns effectively.
The Special Secretary (Health & FW) and Director of Health Services were instructed to develop a model for optimizing the deployment of human resources, including specialists, medical officers, nurses, and technicians, to fill critical gaps in health services. Deputy Commissioners were tasked with taking a proactive role in monitoring the performance of health facilities in collaboration with Chief Medical Officers.
State-level officers were directed to assess ongoing projects and prepare a comprehensive plan to secure funding for constructing essential infrastructure in Primary Health Sub-Centres (PHSCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Community Health Centres (CHCs) that currently lack adequate facilities.
The meeting also emphasized the high prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, and Cancer in the state. The State NCD team was assigned to recommend both preventive and curative measures to address these health challenges.
To ensure the effective distribution of medical supplies, state-level officers and store officials were advised to adopt a flexible approach for drug allocation based on district requirements. Additionally, they were urged to utilize the DVDMS portal effectively for drug allocation and distribution.
The meeting reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare services, addressing the unique challenges in the Valley Districts, and ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all residents.
